About This Course

Course Description:
Learners will study types and sources of errors in measurements and calculations. The topic emphasizes accuracy, precision, and propagation of errors, essential for scientific and engineering applications.

Learning Outcomes:
The learner should be able to:

  • Describe errors, sources of errors, the terms used in error analysis.
  • Discuss other sources of errors other than measurement.
  • Calculate absolute, relative, and percentage errors.
  • Derive and compute absolute, relative and percentage errors, minimum and maximum values/ limits of accuracy.
  • Derive the formulae for error propagation in functions.
  • Understand and analyse error propagation in calculations.
  • Apply the knowledge of error analysis to improve the level of precision and accuracy in contextual problems.
